Policies and Procedures

Piano Course Sessions for children

Fees and conditions for all course programs are available upon information request.

  1. After agreeing on the duration and time slot of the child’s piano lesson, a contract managing all aspects of this agreement is established for the duration of the regular school year, from the end of August to mid-June.
  2. A student concert is presented at the end of the school year.
  3. The summer course session is available separately.
  4. A new student can join and start anytime, as long as there is a time slot available.
  5. A waiting list is managed on a first come, first serve basis.
  6. An annual tax receipt for music education will be provided, for all children under 18 years of age.
  7. For contracting purposes, it is greatly appreciated to be made aware of any holidays, trip or planned absences. Marie-Andrée will provide the same information to the parent.

  1. A detailed schedule of classes will be provided in writing to the parent.
  2. In the context of an in-person course, if the student has flu, Covid symptoms, a fever, or the student has come into contact with a person who has tested positive, the student (or their parent) must notify Marie-Andrée before the next course is held and as soon as possible. The following course(s) will then be given either wearing a mask or simply by videoconference according to the same schedule and this, until any risk of contagion has clearly passed. Marie-Andrée will undertake to do the same if one of these situations arises on her side. In addition, Marie-Andrée commits to continue to offer quality distance learning if she must go into preventive quarantine.

Adult, Master Classes and Online lessons

Fees and conditions for all course programs are available upon information request.

  1. Fees are paid at the beginning of each month by e-transfer according to the number of weeks of lessons confirmed in that month, as invoiced.
  2. International students must pay in CAD$ and are responsible for any applicable transaction and/or currency conversion fees they may have.
  3. An annual tax receipt for music education will be provided, if under 18 years of age.
  4. For scheduling purposes, it is greatly appreciated to be made aware of any holidays, trip or planned absences. Marie-Andrée will provide the same information to the student.
  5. In the context of an in-person course, if the student has flu or Covid symptoms, a fever, or the student has come into contact with a person who has tested positive, the student (or their parent) must notify Marie-Andrée before the next course is held and as soon as possible.
  6. If a student cancels a lesson with less than 24-hour notice (except in case of sickness or emergency), the lesson is forfeited (non-refundable); this is fair, as the lesson time was reserved for them. In some instances, at Marie-Andrée’s discretion and schedule permitting, it may be possible to reschedule the lesson, but this is not guaranteed.
  7. Classes may not be cancelled for school examination period reasons. Students who wish to miss their lesson may do so at their own expense. However, upon request, no homework will be assigned for theory classes during this time.
  8. If a student simply fails to show up for their lesson, whether in person or online, the lesson is forfeited and will not be rescheduled.
  9. If a student stops their lessons, no reimbursement will be issued for the balance of paid lessons in the current month.
  10. In case of late arrival, please advise as soon as possible. Missed lesson time will not be refunded or rescheduled.
  11. If Marie-Andrée needs to cancel or is exceptionally absent for a paid lesson, it will always be either rescheduled at a mutually agreeable date or credited to the following payment period.
